Quantitative Data:<\/b> Between 2022 and 2024, the community tourism project was consolidated as a space for learning and collaboration. In addition to capacity building, volunteer support, and visibility, this project promotes exchange among local enterprises.<\/p>

Achievements:<\/b><\/p>

  1. 121 organizations participated throughout the execution of the project.<\/p><\/li>

  2. 332 people were trained.<\/p><\/li>

  3. 17 training processes were carried out.<\/p><\/li>

  4. 147 women participated in the process.<\/p><\/li>

  5. 62 volunteers supported the community tourism project.<\/p><\/li>

  6. Currently, through the project “Strengthening of community organizations for the development of responsible and sustainable tourism,” support is provided to organizations with the goal of improving and optimizing their organizational and tourism capacity.<\/p><\/li><\/ol>

    Within the framework of this 2025\u20132027 project, six organizations with a focus on community tourism in the Western Highlands (Altiplano Occidental) of Guatemala are being supported. They are:<\/p>

    1. Asociaci\u00f3n Maya de Peque\u00f1os Agricultores (Maya Small Farmers Association), Colomba Costa Cuca, Quetzaltenango.<\/p><\/li>

    2. Asociaci\u00f3n de Agricultores y Ecoturismo para el Desarrollo Integral Chic\u00faa (ASAEDICH) (Farmers and Ecotourism Association for Integral Development Chic\u00faa), Quetzaltenango.<\/p><\/li>

    3. Asociaci\u00f3n Parcialidad Caxaj (Caxaj Parciality Association), Totonicap\u00e1n.<\/p><\/li>

    4. Asociaci\u00f3n Sostenible para el Desarrollo Integral y Tur\u00edstico de Loma Linda (ASODILL) (Sustainable Association for the Integral and Touristic Development of Loma Linda), Loma Linda, El Palmar, Quetzaltenango.<\/p><\/li>

    5. Instituto Mesoamericano de Permacultura (IMAP) (Mesoamerican Permaculture Institute), San Lucas Tolim\u00e1n, Solol\u00e1.<\/p><\/li>

    6. Asociaci\u00f3n de Desarrollo Agroforestal Integral Sostenible (ADAFIS) (Sustainable Integral Agroforestry Development Association), Uni\u00f3n La Reforma, Sibinal, San Marcos.<\/p><\/li><\/ol>

      Services Offered:<\/b> The supported organizations offer the following tourism services:<\/p>

      1. Asociaci\u00f3n Maya de Peque\u00f1os Agricultores, Colomba Costa Cuca, Quetzaltenango. Promotes community historical tourism. Through the life stories of their members and events related to the guerrilla in Guatemala, they have created a museum within the farm, offer a coffee tour, and work on forest conservation, which includes a waterfall that is also a natural attraction.<\/p><\/li>

      2. Asociaci\u00f3n de Agricultores y Ecoturismo para el Desarrollo Integral Chic\u00faa (ASAEDICH), Quetzaltenango. Promotes ecotourism through the conservation of natural and cultural heritage in a territory considered a sacred place. Its main attraction is Cerro La Muela.<\/p><\/li>

      3. Asociaci\u00f3n Parcialidad Caxaj, Totonicap\u00e1n. Promotes the Caballo Blanco Ecological Park, a natural space that encompasses four hectares of coniferous forest. The park features hiking trails and viewpoints.<\/p><\/li>

      4. Asociaci\u00f3n Sostenible para el Desarrollo Integral y Tur\u00edstico de Loma Linda (ASODILL), Loma Linda, El Palmar, Quetzaltenango. Promotes community development through ecotourism, with a focus on biodiversity conservation in Loma Linda village. Its main tourist attractions include natural pools and waterfalls, a birdwatching route, areas for extreme sports, as well as tours from Loma Linda to the Chicabal Volcano lagoon.<\/p><\/li>

      5. Instituto Mesoamericano de Permacultura (IMAP), San Lucas Tolim\u00e1n, Solol\u00e1. Promotes sustainable tourism through its project “Santuario de las Aves” (Bird Sanctuary), a forest conservation zone. In this area, it is possible to spot the Slender Sheartail hummingbird, an emblematic species of the region.<\/p><\/li>

      6. Asociaci\u00f3n de Desarrollo Agroforestal Integral Sostenible (ADAFIS), Uni\u00f3n La Reforma, Sibinal, San Marcos. Promotes rural community and sustainable forest resource tourism in Uni\u00f3n Reforma, Sibinal, San Marcos. It is recognized as one of the best places for Horned Guan birdwatching. It features a viewpoint that offers impressive scenic views of the Tajumulco and Tacan\u00e1 volcanoes.<\/p><\/li><\/ol>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
