Our DNA

ALTUS is a network of nonprofit organizations, community funds, and small businesses promoting sustainable community-based tourism. Founded in January 2023, it brings together 36 organizations from 12 Latin American countries with the goal of exchanging knowledge, experiences, and capabilities.

1.

We create spaces for dialogue and exchange and build collective training and development strategies.

2.

We develop the capacity of member organizations to document effective tourism practices and promote collective marketing.

3.

We strengthen our partners’ skills and competencies, and recognize the challenges of community tourism in Latin America.

Mission

To be the world’s leading organization in community-based and sustainable tourism.

Vision

We are a Latin American network that strengthens community-based and sustainable tourism by connecting our organizations in the areas of training, promotion, and policy advocacy, with the goal of contributing to the development of regenerative and resilient livelihoods in the region.

Values

Strategic axes of work

The following are the lines of work proposed in the Network’s Strategic Plan for the period 2025-2030:

Resource management, strategic alliances, and financial sustainability.

Strategic Objective:

Strengthen the operational sustainability of the network by mobilizing resources and establishing strategic alliances that promote the development of sustainable tourism in the region.

Strengthen the sense of belonging, shared identity and motivation, as well as the technical and human capabilities of its members, through processes of mutual recognition, exchange of experiences, and co-creation of spaces for inspiring dialogue.
To position the network as a benchmark for sustainable tourism in Latin America through effective communication strategies, advocacy, and the dissemination of experiences, knowledge, and results.

Consolidate a democratic, representative, efficient, and participatory governance structure for decision-making, the execution of strategic actions, and the institutional sustainability of ALTUS.
